Quantum Femmes

A salute to the suffragettes

Quantum Femmes are back for Classical on Cuba 2022! Feel free to wear your best Edwardian hat and settle in for a unique musical experience with the String Quartet in E minor written by the wonderful suffragette composer, Ethyl Smyth. Smyth, a prolific composer, was known for throwing stones through the windows of politicians who opposed the vote for women back in 1912. Other musical treats include the mystical Nocturnes trilogy by one of Katherine Mansfield's lovers, the New Zealand composer Arnold Trowell.

Join this unique joyful quartet for a flight of musical fancy and a trip back in time!

Charmian Keay - violin
Vivian Stephens - violin
Sophia Acheson - viola
Imogen Granwal - cello
